Winter Blues?
Why A Winter Wedding Could Be Perfect For You

Think snow-capped peaks, glowing candles, velvet gowns, and soul-warming food. It’s intimate, romantic, and full of magic. If you’re dreaming of something a little different, a little dramatic, winter might just be your perfect season.

There’s just something about a winter wedding that feels like pure magic. Snow-covered peaks, golden sunsets, and that quiet, cosy atmosphere make it such a special time of year to celebrate. While summer might still take the cake as the most popular wedding season, we reckon winter gives it a serious run for its money. Our team have catered many winter weddings over the years, and we reckon we’ve nailed the art of winter celebrations for our couples.

Here’s why winter might be the perfect time to tie the knot:

Winter Scenery

The Queenstown-Lakes winter landscape is something else. With fewer crowds and a blanket of snow across the hills, the whole region feels peaceful and pristine which makes it ideal for intimate celebrations.  And if you’re dreaming of those incredible mountain-top wedding photos, this is the season for you.

Cosy & Romantic Styling

Winter is made for romance. We’ve had many couples use candlelit receptions, layered lighting, and dreamy florals to create that snug wedding atmosphere for their guests. Winter weddings are a brilliant season to have fun with your styling, and whether you’re going for rustic charm or a soft luxurious vibe, winter brings out a level of intimacy and warmth that's hard to beat.

More Venue Availability:

With summer venues often booked solid, winter opens up more choice and flexibility. It’s a win-win if you’ve got your heart set on a popular spot. We’re proud to work closely with many of the region’s top venues, so we know the ins and outs of making a winter wedding work beautifully at each one.

Stylish Layers & Winter Glam:

Winter wedding fashion is elegant, super comfy, and a lot of fun for your guests! These colder months open up a whole new world of wedding day style. We’re talking faux fur coats, velvet gowns and chic scarves. Not to mention, these cosy textures and rich winter tones pop beautifully in photos.

Tailored Winter Menus:

Winter is the season of comfort food, and we do not disappoint with our mouthwatering classics. Our experienced chefs love leaning into the best of the season, and we use locally sourced meats and seasonal vegetables to create dishes that feel warm, nourishing and full of flavour. Slow-braised meats, silky risottos, and gooey desserts - these are the type of dishes that really steal the show.

Dream Venues, Wherever You Want:

Whether you’re planning a high-country elopement, a lakeside lodge wedding, or a marquee tucked into the snow-capped hills, we’re there. Our mobile kitchen lets us go wherever your dream location may be. Remote wedding locations are always popular in summer, but they’re just as magical in winter, and with the right planning, just as comfortable. We work closely with a wide range of local vendors and can organise heating, linen, and all the extras you need to create a warm, inviting space wherever you choose to celebrate.

Stress-Free Planning:

Winter weddings can take a little more behind-the-scenes prep: especially when it comes to heating, lighting, weather-proofing, and guest comfort. But that’s where we come in. Our in-house event planning team will handle it all for you. From early planning and design, right through to setup, coordination, and pack-down, we take care of every detail so you don’t have to. No two weddings are the same, and we love helping couples bring their winter vision to life.

So all in all, there’s something pretty special about celebrating love in the middle of winter. It's intimate, dramatic, and full of soul. If you’ve been tossing up the idea, give us a call and we can help you figure out if a winter wedding is the perfect celebration for you.
